For Chain Valley: designing “crypto slang of the week”

We planned on releasing on releasing one crypto slang per week for more than 40 weeks.
I found it to be super interesting so I personally took up the responsibility/challenge to research the different slangs that are used in the crypto or web3 space and also design the posts.
I had previously also worked on the content design guideline and so that really came in handy during the design process for the crypto slangs.

Steps taken to design the “crypto slang of the week” content

- Discovery of the content idea
- Conducted research for the ideas as in understanding the topic (crypto slangs)

Research finding: we found out that we could the content keep running for 42 weeks as there is a total of 42 crypto slangs.
Impact: every week - for 42 weeks in total - our followers would learn about a new crypto slang
Action
The following are the actions I took to complete achieve design.

Design ideation

I surveyed Dribble and Instagram for different design styles to take inspiration.

The ones shown above are the key features I included in my final design.

Key design inspiration

Finally, I took the periodic table of the chemical elements as the main source of inspiration for the design.

I mixed the three ideas (shown above) with the periodic table.

I really liked the numbering system and short form titling of the names.

Design sketches

I came up with multiple sketches.

This helped the team to later decide which one we would pick and stick with for the entirety of the weekly posts for 42 weeks.

Test

I asked my teammates to vote on which design they preferred.

As you can see from the picture above, the last design got the majority of the votes.

Style and components

I made sure that all of the weekly posts had a consistent style, so that it would create a harmonious appeal and coherence.
